Asking “What are your greatest weaknesses?” is not the way to hire the best people

Ask the right questions to discern the interviewee’s character

In this Ted.com Ideas post, Anthony Tjan, author of  Good People: The Only Leadership Decision That Really Matters, offers a strategy for identifying character traits like integrity, humility, gratitude and self-awareness in an interview. Of course, competency questions determine skills and aptitude. But including questions to glean personality and values will lead to hiring people who are satisfied and successful in their jobs.
